Section 3-2 Code of Conduct
It is the policy
of the Board of Trustees of the Amherst County Public Library
to provide safe and inviting facilities. To assure the successful
implementation of this policy, the Board declares to all Library
staff and users the following to be examples, by way of illustration
and not limitation, of unacceptable behaviors:

Causing noise which interferes with patron use
of the library, including but not limited to the use
of any electronic device, e.g., radio, CD player, cellular
telephone,
pager, or earphone, etc.

Leaving young children unattended by a responsible
person.

Any obscene, abusive, or harassing gesture.
-
Interfering — in any way — with
the free movement of others.
-
Removal of any Library property from the premises
without authorization.
-
Soliciting of any kind, selling of any kind,
or distribution of leaflets or any other materials without
approval
of the Director.

Unauthorized use of any Library telephone.
-
Bringing unauthorized food or beverages into
any Library location.
-
Following others around the building or exhibiting
behavior such as making rude noises, gestures, or other
intimidating acts.
-
Rearranging or relocating any Library furniture,
books, or equipment from one location to another without
staff approval.
-
Sleeping.
-
Carrying unauthorized weapons of any sort.
-
Possession of alcoholic beverages and/or illegal
drugs.
-
Bringing animals — other than licensed service
animals — into any Library location without staff
approval.
-
Willful destruction of or damage to any Library
property.
-
Smoking or using tobacco products anywhere in
a Library.

Not wearing shoes and a shirt. Both are required.

Any violation of local, state, or federal law.
Persons engaged in improper conduct shall, at the discretion
of any Library staff and/or security officer, be evicted
from any Library and its grounds. Persons who persist in
unacceptable behaviors or who refuse to leave a Library building
or grounds when requested will be subject to arrest.
